What is CARE?

CARE is a 501(c)(3) organization. Founded in 1945 with the creation of the CARE Package®, CARE is a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. CARE places special focus on working alongside poor girls and women because, equipped with the proper resources, they have the power to lift whole families and entire communities out of poverty. In 2020, CARE worked in over 100 countries, reaching more than 90 million people through 1,300 projects. To learn more, visit www.care.org.

What is CARE Action?

CARE established CARE Action as a related but separately incorporated 501(c)(4) organization. CARE Action undertakes a variety of programs and activities in furtherance of the organizations’ common mission, most notably directly influencing policymakers through Congressional testimony, briefings, reports and meetings based on CARE’s experience of working with poor people around the world over more than 60 years. CARE Action is registered under the Lobbying Disclosure Act and supports effective citizen-based advocacy through the CARE Action Network and also supports lobbying efforts.
